Ways to Get Involved

The EMS for Children program invites parents, caregivers, and other associated individuals or groups to join its Family Advisory Network (FAN). FAN, created by the national EMS for Children Resource Center in 1999, aims to get the viewpoint of parents and others involved in all aspects of pediatric emergency medical care. Much like the current push to focus healthcare providers on family-centered care, the Pennsylvania EMS for Children program seeks input from collaborators, especially parents of children with unique healthcare needs, to further improve medical care for all children across the state.

Committee Application & Guidelines

The EMSC Advisory Committee serves as a forum for issues that have potential impact on the emergency care and transport of all pediatric patients in the Commonwealth; to educate prehospital providers, other health practitioners and the general public in regard to provision of services available through the emergency medical services for children program; to formulate recommendations to the Board of Directors of PEHSC which reflect the interest and opinion of pediatric emergency care and injury prevention professionals. The EMSC Advisory Committee is a part of the PEHSC structure for providing advice to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Membership in the EMS for Children Advisory Committee is completely voluntary. Physicians, nurses, healthcare professionals, prehospital providers, injury prevention advocates and, most importantly, PARENTS may make up the general body of this committee.
