SAFE TRANSPORTATION OF CHILDREN IN GROUND AMBULANCES
This document, produced by a work group in NHTSA, provides best pracice guidance regarding safe transport of children in ambulances. Properly transporting a child in an ambulance remains a challenge, and this document, as well as resources provided by the PA EMSC Program, helps to guide EMS providers on proper transport of children in ambulances. The National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO) has created the Safe Transport Committee, a stand-alone ad-hoc committee working to develop standards for pediatric safe transport devices in ground ambulances. While the STC works to develop and test standards, NASEMSO released the Safe Transport of Children by EMS: Interim Guidance document to assist EMS agencies with best practices and recommendations to improve the safe transport of children in ground ambulances.
